Mean Guy – picture books

Highview Creative is happy to announce its new picture book series for children of all ages. The Mean Guy stories are a delightful way for young readers to explore new places and experience everyday life through the silliness of Mean Guy.

The Birth of Mean Guy

One day as the author was telling a story to her grandchildren (ages 3 and 5) using random toys discovered in an old pretzel barrel, an interesting character appeared. Having never seen the red figure before, his horns and cape led her to impulsively name him “Mean Guy.”

He turned out to be quite a contrarian. If she asked Mean Guy to walk slowly, he sped across the floor. When she told him to go fast he said, “Buhhh,” in a gravelly voice and moved at a snail’s pace. The children laughed hysterically and wanted Grammy to do it over and over again. Since that day, they have begged for new Mean Guy stories and he has become the star of their playtime together.

Mean Guy grumbles a lot and hasn’t learned his manners but he loves to travel. He does outrageous things that cause us to laugh and we relate to his struggles as he learns about life. We hope you enjoy reading Mean Guy’s adventures! His stories are suitable for young readers and appropriate to be read aloud to children of all ages.
